5 things to know before you plan a trip to Europe
1- The language barrier

Even if most of Europe is united economically, it is still a gathering of very different countries; each one has its own culture, its own traditions and specially its own language. English-speaking natives can only be found in the UK. It is true that in most countries English is taught at school, but always as a second or third language, so sometimes conversations with the locals can be rather challenging.
Hotel clerks and receptionists are most probably perfectly bilingual but you might not have the same luck in restaurants even those that cater mostly to tourists.
Unless you have some basic knowledge of the local language, translation apps, phrase books, small dictionaries will all come in handy, make sure you have them with you. Do not let the language barrier spoil your fun.
